Alongside confirming the news that the Judge Child supplement for the Judge Dredd & the Worlds of 2000 AD roleplaying game is now available, last week's blog also provided a cover reveal for the epic Apocalypse War supplement. As layout continues and launch time approaches, let's take a little time to remind you of exactly what you can expect to find within its war-ravaged covers.
Taken directly from the introduction, the nine chapters of this ambitious supplement cover the following headings:
CHAPTER 1 - THE APOCALYPSE WAR
Providing an account of the key events of Block Mania and the Apocalypse War, this chapter also suggests themes for setting campaigns during these events. A timeline of the Sov Block from the middle of the 21st century up to 2142 is also presented as a resource for other campaigns involving the Sov Block or its citizens.
CHAPTER 2 – APOCALYPTIC CAREERS
Regardless of whether they grew up in the Sov Block, spent some time afloat on the Black Atlantic or saw some combat in the Apocalypse War, players can choose from a variety of origins, careers and exploits during character creation. Options for East-Meg Judges and agents are also included, plus specialised careers for Mega-City One’s Justice Department.
CHAPTER 3 – TOOLS FOR THE APOCALYPSE
This chapters includes rules for the wide assortment of weapons found in the arsenals of the two rival cities, from the vicious frost blades favoured by Sov crime gangs, to the devastatingly effective but temperamental stub gun used by the desperate Judges of Meg-City One. Mines, espionage devices and war machines are detailed, plus a list of vehicle upgrades to carry out some customisation.
CHAPTER 4 – THE SOV BLOCK
Taking the scope of running adventures in the world of Judge Dredd and the Worlds of 2000AD to another continent, this chapter provides descriptions of locations found within the Sov Block and its neighbours. Scenario seeds linked to a particular Mega-City or region offer endless opportunities for adventure.
CHAPTER 5- MEGA-CITY ONE
Nuclear war inflicts drastic damage to Mega-City One and reduces its territory greatly. Structures and locations that succumb to or endure through the war are detailed, along with the hazards some of them pose to the survivors in its aftermath. Also included is a brief history of the relocation of the Big Meg’s citizens of Sov ethnicity, which occurred some three decades or so after the Apocalypse War.
CHAPTER 6 – THE BLACK ATLANTIC
This chapter navigates through the vast expanse of polluted ocean that borders the east of Mega-City One. Various ports of call are listed, plus rules for local conditions and weather patterns that can be encountered. A nautical adventure that pits unfortunate day-trippers against a cut-throat crew of mutant pirates is also provided.
CHAPTER 7 – SECTOR HOUSE 13
As intense civil wars start to engulf the city, a team of Judges in the notorious ‘Angel Town’ are tasked with patrolling the sleezy streets of Meg Central and dealing with incursions from neighbouring blocks. But how long can the Sector stay in a relative state of calm? And just what is happening in the ranks of the Sector House to concern the local SJS? This entire chapter provides a campaign setting and an adventure for Judge characters.
CHAPTER 8 – TALES OF THE APOCALYPSE
Despite lasting a mere few months, the bloody conflict between the two superpowers littered with incidences of courage, patriotism, horror and treachery. This chapter draws on those moments to inspire further tales, including an entire adventure viewed from the Sov Judges’ perspective and a number of detailed scenario seeds designed to inspire a variety of additional adventures set across the course of the war.
CHAPTER 9 – PATRIOTS, AGGRESSORS AND SURVIVORS
Statistics are provided for both famous individuals and the anonymous combatants, human and mechanoid alike, that took part in the war. A handful of mutants are also included, plus the domesticated and dangerous beasts that can be encountered in the vast territories of the Sov Block or the noxious waters of the Black Atlantic.
A tome of apocalyptic proportions indeed! Check back in next week as we take a sneak peek of the interior layout of the Apocalypse War supplement.
